ARP- Research Method – Questionnaire: Qualitative and Quantitative

Student Feedback form/Survey

I chose to distribute a physical feedback forms 15 mins the end of the workshop

The survey was anonymous and students were made aware that the survey was not mandatory but qualitative and to get their comments and suggestion to a future workshop in the next academic year.

They were also made aware that this survey would be stored and shared for my ARP project but also consulted by the rest of the team in order to discuss the success and improvement of this workshop.

I had the chance to re write the survey questionnaire twice as the sessions were spread over two weeks.

This allowed me to reflect on the essential questions – See below two exemplar of questionnaire.

My conclusion was that the second versions was the most relevant for the ARP and analysis.

Below are the data collected during this feedback session:

Number of Students participating to the survey: 35 students

  • Home Students: 11
  • International Students: 24

Workshop Visits:

  • Home Students:
  • 0 times: 2 participants
  • Once or twice: 7 participants
  • More than that: 1 participant
  • Weekly: 1 participant
  • International Students:
  • 0 times: 5 participants
  • Once or twice: 11 participants
  • More than that: 7 participants
  • Weekly: 1 participant

Comfort Level in Workshops:

  • Home Students:
  • Yes: 8 participants
  • No: 4 participants
  • International Students:
  • Yes: 18 participants
  • No: 2 participants

Use of Process Again in Project:

  • Home Students:
  • Yes: 9 participants
  • No: 0 participants
  • Maybe: 1 participan
  • International Students:
  • Yes: 20 participants
  • No: 0 participants

Workshop Impact on Motivation:

  • Home Students:
  • Yes: 11 participants
  • International Students:
  • Yes: 19 participants
  • No: 1 participant

All responses the rating of the workshop were 4 or 5 stars (the maximum) – so overall a very positive reactions.

When asked what students would improve/change about this workshop:

Student replied that they would like to learn more about the software demonstrated, they would have like more time in the workshop and to experiment with the software and digital process. They would have like to test more variety of shapes and form, have more choice of material and more time to refine their outcomes.

Again we can see that overall the learning experience was positive and that students would have wish a longer version of this workshop to explore and play with material and processes.

What I have personally learned that the majority of students, regardless of their origin, expressed an intention to use the learned processes again in their projects.
The workshops seem to have positively impacted students’ motivation, with a majority indicating increased motivation.
